Motiv8 Gr8 Race

Our Gr8 Race was bursting with fun, laughter, and non-stop excitement for both students and staff! The weather was on our side, keeping the skies clear long enough for everyone to enjoy every moment. The best part? The students couldn't get enough and wished the event could have been longer.

A massive shoutout to our amazing parents whose generous fundraising efforts helped us raise over $8,000 and to all of our parent volunteers who helped out on the day! Thanks to you, we’ll be gearing up with brand-new sporting equipment for our students to enjoy during recess and lunch breaks. Here’s to more fun, fitness, and fantastic memories ahead!

Hills Band Competition Winners

Our incredible Concert Band took centre stage at the recent Hills Band Competition, performing alongside six other primary schools and winning! Their exceptional musicianship, flawless teamwork, and unwavering dedication earned them a Gold Award from the adjudicators! The adjudicators noted their outstanding collaboration, precision, and passion. We couldn’t be prouder of their fantastic achievement and would like to offer a huge thanks to our amazing band tutors, supportive parents, and committed staff who made this unforgettable success possible!

Arts Unit Multicultural Public Speaking Zone Competition

On Thursday 17 July, Westmead Public School proudly hosted the Multicultural Public Speaking Competition, welcoming students from Beresford Road Public School, Guildford Public School, Granville Public School, Greystanes Public School, Ringrose Public School and Widemere Public School. Students competed for the opportunity to progress to the Regional Final.

Each participant delivered both a prepared speech and an impromptu speech based on the theme of multiculturalism. Through their speeches, students shared thoughtful perspectives, celebrated cultural diversity and advocated for an inclusive, multicultural Australia.

All four students represented our school with confidence, clarity and enthusiasm. They should be incredibly proud of their outstanding efforts and the high standard of their presentations.

A special congratulations to Isabelle, who was awarded first place in the Stage 3 competition. Isabelle will now represent Westmead Public School at the Regional Finals in Term 3. We wish her every success as she prepares for the next stage of the competition.

Year 5 Leadership Day

Our Year 5 Leadership Day was an inspiring and unforgettable experience that set the foundation for our future student leaders. Guided by Cameron, the day was filled with laughter, teamwork, and valuable lessons about what true leadership means. Our Year 5 students discovered that leadership is not about giving orders, but about encouraging others, working together, and helping everyone succeed. As Cameron reminded us, “There is no ‘I’ in team.”

Through engaging activities like the Pizza Game, the Rope Challenge, and the Newspaper Activity, students developed essential leadership skills such as communication, compassion, courage, problem-solving, and collaboration. These dynamic games highlighted the importance of teamwork as a core element of effective leadership and everyday life.

The excitement and growth experienced during Leadership Day have our Year 5 cohort eagerly anticipating their roles as our Year 6 leaders, and for some of them, our official Student Leaders next year.

A huge thank you to Cameron for his dedication in creating such a memorable and impactful day. Our Year 5 students will continue to be prepared, motivated, and inspired to take their first steps towards becoming the compassionate and responsible leaders of 2027 school!

Premier’s Debating Challenge Western Sydney Champions progress to State Championships!

The statewide Premier’s Debating Challenge kicked off this year with over 1,100 school teams, making the journey to the top fiercely competitive. Westmead’s team first conquered their local division before advancing through five intense regional knockout rounds, maintaining an unblemished record throughout. Their outstanding performance earned them the title of Western Sydney Regional Champions and one of 10 prestigious spots at the NSW State Championships.

Held in November at Stanwell Tops, south of Sydney, the state finals brought together the 10 top regional champion teams from across New South Wales. Over four thrilling rounds, our debaters impressed adjudicators with their sharp clarity, strong logic, and seamless teamwork, finishing in equal fourth place with two wins out of four debates, narrowly missing out on a place in the semi-finals.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated debating teachers, determined students, and supportive parents whose combined efforts made this historic achievement possible. We eagerly await the incredible feats our talented debaters will accomplish next year!

Met South Public Speaking Regional Finals

Four of our students proudly represented Westmead Public School at the Met South Public Speaking Regional Finals.  Each competitor presented a prepared speech on a chosen topic and an impromptu speech on a surprise topic given to them on the day.

Govin (ES1) and Dheerav (Stage 1) both gave outstanding speeches on topics they were passionate and excited about. Both students spoke with confidence, clarity and used eye contact.

Kiyan (Stage 2)'s speech, Life Begins in the Ocean was shared with incredible passion and conviction and earned him a Highly Commended Award and Runner-Up in the Stage 2 competition.

Adhvaith impressed the adjudicators and the audience with his emotional and moving prepared speech, The Web of Automation and his impromptu on the topic Be Careful, earning him First Place in the Stage 3 Regional Finals.  Adhvaith will now represent our school and region at the State Finals in Term 4.
