Enrolment

Our school can help with enrolment queries throughout the year.

Local enrolment area

Check your address on School Finder to see if it is within our local intake area. Most schools have designated local enrolment areas. Note: local enrolment areas are subject to change.

How to enrol

Apply online. If you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident you are eligible to complete the online enrolment application. You will then need to finalise the application at the school.

If you are not eligible or prefer not to enrol online, use the application to enrol (PDF 768.4KB) form. Please complete the form in English. A translated application to enrol may help you do this.

For more information, visit sTpe school enrolment.

Out-of-area enrolments

As outlined in the department’s enrolment policy, our school may accept enrolments from outside our local enrolment area if places are available.

We will assess applications for non-local enrolment on a case-by-case basis.

Temporary visas and international students

The Temporary Residents Program has information about eligibility and the forms to complete an application.

Distance education

Distance education is an equity program for students who are geographically isolated or whose individual circumstances prevent them from regularly attending school. Students must meet one of the conditions in the Distance Education Enrolment Procedures to be eligible to access this program as a full-time student.

For more information about educational opportunities in rural areas, visit Rural and distance education.

Changed school enrolment boundaries for students 2020

Due to increased student enrolments in and around the Parramatta area, the Department of Education will opened a new school called Bayanami Public School.

In 2019, the new school opened  for Kindergarten students from within the school's enrolment area. Click here to see a map of the Bayanami Public School catchment.

In 2020 Bayanami Public School opened for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

To establish a new enrolment area for Bayanami Public School, the Department of Education reviewed the current enrolment areas for Westmead Public School, Parramatta North Public School and Parramatta Public School.

The changes do not apply to students who:

  • have a sibling enrolled in our school

Before enrolling your child you should check that you live within the Westmead Public School enrolment area.

The new changes for Bayanami Public School can be found by contacting Westmead Public School. We cannot accept enrolments from students outside of the area.

Enrolment

Please look into the WPS Enrolment Boundary Map to understand if you are in the designated local area.

Enrolment procedures

  1. The designated local area is defined by the map featured on this website.
  2. All children whose home is situated within the defined boundary area and who are eligible to attend a NSW government school are guaranteed a place.
  3. Local area enrolments will be required to provide suitable proofs of address with their application illustrating a purchase contract for property or a current rental lease agreement including the rental bond lodgement advice and at least two rental payment receipts.
  4. The school will not accept proof of address documentation pertaining to sub-letting of rental lease agreements and/or purchase contracts for property that are not in the applicant's name. Statutory declarations regarding issues of sub-letting will not be accepted.
  5. The school will not accept non-local students and/or in-area enrolments (ie, where the lease or proof of purchase document is not in the applicant's name) as all permanent accommodation at Westmead Public School is full and there are demountable classrooms on site.
  6. However, in the event of exceptional circumstances regarding non-local and/or in-area enrolments (ie, where the lease or proof of purchase document is not in the applicant's name) a non-local expression of interest form may be given.
  7. An enrolment committee will look at all such expression of interest. This enrolment committee consists of the a senior executive, teacher representative and community representative.
  8.  A non-local expression of interest form is available upon request using set criteria. The decision to enroll or otherwise a non-local applicant and/or in-area enrolments (ie, where the lease or proof of purchase document is not in the applicant's name) will be based on the majority decision of this committee.
  9. Students who apply to enroll as non-local enrolments are considered in exceptional circumstances only. Criteria for non-local enrolments are those students with severe medical grounds and who need to attend Westmead Children's Hospital and/or have siblings attending Ronald McDonald House for extended periods of time greater than one term.

Temporary visas and international students

At this moment, Westmead Public School is not accepting temporary visa holders due to our large number of students. Temporary visa holders can enrol at Bayanami Public School
